Totally Telford Magazine I E10 - Spring-Summer 2026

Cancer care Supporting Lingen Davies Cancer Support’s £5m fundraising campaign Sunflower appeal for dedicated local Cancer touches almost every family. Statistics show that one in two people will face a diagnosis in their lifetime. That’s why access to vital treatment here in the Borough has never been more important. Telford & Wrekin Council is proud to champion the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal, an ambitious campaign to raise £5 million for a dedicated cancer treatment centre at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. This new Lingen Davies Cancer Centre, planned to open in 2029, will double treatment capacity alongside services already available at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The new Centre will provide an additional 30 chemotherapy bays, and urology and lung diagnostic clinics, as well as facilities for outpatient appointments. For local patients, that means less waiting, shorter journeys, and care that’s easier to access when it matters most.

“Cancer will effect most of us at some point in our lives, so we’re proud to be supporting the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal to bring vital cancer treatment here to Telford and Wrekin.” Councillor Kelly Middleton Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Public Health and Healthier Communities. Together, we can make this life-changing facility a reality.
