Client Synopsis

What did they do?

Why did they do it?

• Lockheed Martin (LM) is a $71B aerospace, & defense company. They are seen as a first mover within the industry. • SAP customer since 1998. Currently run ECC across all business areas. • Longest tenured member of the SAP Executive Advisory Board (since 2012). • They are a first mover and leader for SAP in A&D. Many examples of their A&D peers waiting to see what LM does first.

• Process standardization: By adopting common business processes, we can eliminate redundancies, reduce complexity and enhance overall efficiency. • System modernization: Modernized systems will facilitate seamless integration and interaction between various business segments, improving data sharing and decision-making capabilities. • Enhanced transparency: The new common disclosure statements will increase transparency for stakeholders, improve speed and drive interoperability. • Improved collaboration: A unified operational structure will encourage collaboration across business segments, fostering innovation and enabling us to better serve our customers.

• Lockheed Martin made a decision in 2021 to fully transform their business under the banner of 1LMX. • For ERP, this includes consolidating 17 ECC landscapes across 4 business areas (BA) into a single US instance on RISE in NS2. This includes common business processes across BA’s. • For HCM, they are replacing Oracle PeopleSoft with SFSF EC, EC Payroll and several additional modules. • First go-live for ERP for their MFC BA is 1/1/2026. HCM is 8/17/2026.

How SAP solved a problem for the customer?

3 things that helped drive the strategy

Industry

• RISE allows Lockheed to focus on running their business and lets SAP run their ERP and HCM systems. Lockheed IT and BASIS professionals did a good job, but SLA-backed performance guarantees was desirable. • Security of their systems is critical; NS2’s high-security infrastructure and management met their stringent security reqts and resulted in a more secure environment overall than they could meet on their own.

Aerospace & Defense

• A long-term strategic partnership driven by close executive relationships and trust • Recognition that the Cloud is where innovations would be delivered, and that SAP and Lockheed were truly tied together operationally with RISE • Extremely detailed and laborious meetings with Lockheed’s technical and BASIS leaders pre-contract convinced them the RISE reference architecture and operational management met their needs.
