AP Capstone Courses in Detail
AP Seminar
● Course Description : Students investigate real-world topics from multiple perspectives, gathering and analyzing information from various sources to develop credible and valid evidence-based arguments. ● Assessment : Students are evaluated through a team project and presentation, an individual research-based essay and presentation, and a written exam.
AP Research
● Course Description : Students design, plan, and conduct a yearlong research-based investigation on a topic of their choice, documenting their process with a portfolio. ● Assessment : Students are evaluated on an academic paper of 4,000-5,000 words and a presentation with an oral defense. AP Capstone Awards Students can earn one of two awards upon completion of the program: 1. AP Capstone Diploma : Granted to students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing. 2. AP Seminar and Research Certificate : Granted to students who earn scores of 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research.
