Big Timber Alpacas is excited to announce a partnership with Gerald and Colette Peterson. With our combined expertise and resources, we plan to take Suri and Huacaya genetics to the next level! Our mission is to produce the highest quality alpaca seed stock: con- formationally correct and healthy; uniform, dense and finely fibered, good-natured alpacas. Our stud females are easy birthers with great mothering skills and our stud males are strong framed and easy to handle. We are honored that most of our white foundation herd have Top 1%- 5% rankings in the 2024 EPDs. Most of our color herd, includ- ing blacks and browns have at least Top 25% EPD rankings. We use quantitative data tools, such as histograms, EPDs and skin biopsies, to measure our breeding program advancements with every generation. We shear and test all our alpacas every year to accurately assess annual fiber trait progress and to utilize the fiber in our end market products. We utilize the Suri Network S.H.I.P program to indepen- dently evaluate our Suri alpacas by outside experts. Big Timber Alpacas competes in top national halter and fleece shows winning championships and judges choice awards and “Advanced Fleece” awards. We were honored by AOA in July 2024 as the #1 Suri Fleece Producer and the #4 Suri Halter Show Winner in the Medium-size farm category. We love to mentor new breeders and work with experienced breeders to advance their program and the industry. Our success is measured by our customers’ success.
