Coach Don Silveri's team seems to have had too much vacation time! Prior to the winter break, the Baby Bengals had swished to a fine 4-1 record. Victories over Villa Maria (77-76), SUNY Buffalo (72-48), Bryant & Stratton (82-80) and Niagara were interrupted only by a loss to Rochester (70-66). However, in their first two games since the holidays, they were losers to Rochester again (67-61) and Fredonia (64-60). The Silveri-led Baby Bengals posted wins over D'Youville and R.I .T. (76-65) and (64-55) before dropping a close encounter at home to Fredonia (73-71). Tim Tully and Matt Kearney gain more experience in every game and basketball people at the college are predicting excellent years to come for the duo. The combination of a mature and intelligent coach with eager and sincere players has led to the perfect feeder system for Bengal teams down the road.

We had adequate talent, but we just didn't have enough of it. These were BSC coach Ed Van Tine's com– ments about last years season "... too many stupid penalties ... that's what did us in." Lax defense and in– ability to pass and move the ball hurt t~e stickmen last year. That, coupled With the fact that this was Coach Van Tine's first college coaching experi– ence, made for a poor season. This year was a different story. T~e. team implemented huge fund ralsmg campaigns to gather public, school and financial support. Also, early tryouts have aided in gathering that depth the stickmen so badly

needed. With a year of college coach– ing experience and all of the ade– quate talent necessary, the BSC Stickmen have come into their own.
