Involve participants’ experiences and knowledge of hoist main components through discussions and Q&As to ensure alignment of the participants’ understanding and awareness on hoist main components in relation to maintaining and inspecting hoists
The participants shall:
Engage in discussions and share their experiences and understandings on maintenance main tasks for maintaining mechanical equipment
Take part in the exercises and receive the instructor’s feedback
Both electrical and hydraulic driven hoists must be covered

ELEMENT 4.6 - HOIST MAINTENANCE TASKS
Learning objective:
27) The participants can explain main tasks related to inspection and maintenance of hoists according to relevant manuals (Knowledge, intermediate level)
Main tasks to be performed when inspecting and maintaining hoists:
a.
cleaning
b. visual inspection, including measurement of chain and hook opening
c.
examination of support structure
d.
preventive maintenance
e.
lubrication
f. function test, including proper adjustment of brake and clutch
The instructor shall:
Present the principles and main tasks in relation to inspecting and maintaining hoists
