The Enterprise Team have been extremely helpful from the start, they’ve supported my business with funding, opportunities to trade both on campus and in the city, which has allowed me to meet other businesses. They’ve promoted my business on the University’s social media channels and beyond and grown the awareness of my business and my customer base faster than I could have on my own. Ashima Anand founded Aspera Life in February 2022 in the third year of her Civil Engineering degree. Her
love for plants and plant care developed during
her second year of university, whilst using plants to decorate her student house.
Aspera Life started as an online shop selling house plants and pots, the origin of the name comes from a Latin phrase which means from darkness to stars. In March 2022, Ashima entered Swansea University Enterprise Team's 'The Big Pitch' competition where students present their ideas to win a variety of prizes to develop their start-ups. The judges were excited by Ashima's pitch and she was awarded funding to grow her online business. This led Ashima to expand to have physical presences in the renowned 'pop up' markets throughout the city and open her own shop in
