Scene n ear Seoul, e a rly 1964, of beg gar boys w arm in g them selves a t a rice straw fire.

Those grimy children aren’t “playing” at war like your kids and mine. The ragged little street urchins are sharing the only home they have. Their War of Poverty is very real indeed! Their plight: parents died of disease . . . orphaned by suicide . . . or perhaps abandoned in desperation. Huddled piteously around a sooty straw fire, dressed in discarded GI uniforms, these tattered little beggars are a sample of the many hundreds of abandoned and orphaned children in Korea. These starving vagabonds beg door to door, hoping for a handful of rice. They sleep most anywhere: in a doorway, an overturned barrel, a culvert or wrapped in dirty rags. Won’t You Share Your Love? C o m p a s s io n , i n c . provides a way for you to share your love with such youngsters . . . know a child as your own through a novel “sponsorship” plan. C o m p a s s io n now supports over 20,000 children. Hundreds more await admission until we receive the necessary sponsors. Just 30 Pennies a Day Supports a Child Only $10 a month enables us to take an orphan into one of our 175 Homes in Korea, staffed by Bible-believing nationals. It provides food, clothing, medical care and other necessities. The orphan you select will know you as sponsor. You will receive the child’s picture, address and life story. Letters and parcels may be sent and will be acknowledged promptly in English. Sponsors are t h r i l l e d and b l e s s e d by being a “Mommy” or “Daddy.” Ask a friend or relative to share a sponsorship with you—only $5 each—or interest your Sunday school or other groups.
