A VIEW FROM ...
Huntsville is a growing Southern trail hub with plans to connect more than 300 miles of trail, including its popular Aldridge Creek Greenway. Winding along its namesake waterway with views of Green Mountain in the distance, the paved pathway provides a pleasant, semirural experience through the city’s southern neighborhoods. The nearly 6-mile route leads to Ditto Landing on the banks of the Tennessee River, and a connection to the Tennessee River Greenway, which follows Alabama’s longest river.

Big plans are in store for the Five Mile Creek Greenway, located in Birmingham’s northern suburbs. While currently just over 8 miles, the route is planned to one day span 27 miles, becoming one of the longest rail-trails in Alabama, second only to the Chief Ladiga Trail. Following the route of the former Birmingham Mineral Railroad, which served mining operations in the late 1800s, the crushed-stone trail offers a tranquil journey along a creek through densely wooded terrain.
