A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

It has been a rather exciting end to the week for our Year 7 students as our first set of school tours for parents commenced this morning. It was lovely to see so many faces and meet the parents of students in 7FCO, 7EFR, 7SSA and 7POR. We look forward to welcoming parents of students in 7FAD, 7EMA, 7SGR and 7PWA next week on Friday 30 June. Additionally, Year 7 are eagerly looking forward to their year group Zumba dance workout which is happening this afternoon. So far, the fundraising for Lepra has raised approximately £400 and our students have been very resourceful in their fundraising activities. Thank you to everybody who has contributed. This week 7FAD have led the pack by logging 36 house points. 7EMA and 7POR were in second and third place respectively. Well done to Lorelei W in 7POR for earning a distinction on her Lamda Musical Theatre Grade 2 exam! On Thursday 29 June we are looking forward to welcoming into school a local YA author, Sue Wallman, who will talk to Year 7 and 8 students about her books and answer any of their questions. Copies of some of Sue’s books will be available to buy on the day which she will then personalise and sign. If you or your child would like to buy copies of any of the books, please preorder through ParentPay where possible. Of course if you already own any of Sue’s books your child can bring those in and Sue will be happy to sign them. Furthermore, we are inviting Year 7 students to dress up as their favourite characters from their favourite books on Thursday 29 June. The English Department is taking voluntary payments of £1- £10 that will be used to further resource the School Library. Thank you for your support. On Wednesday 5 July, Year 7 will attend a trip to Kingston Cinema followed by a picnic. This event will still take place despite the scheduled industrial action. More information will be shared in due course.
