The future of retrofit Working with 12 sector partners, the FMB published a new report from the industry- led retrofit roundtable, encouraging the Scottish Government to adopt recommendations on retrofit. The FMB has called for the Government to develop a ministerial oversight group to deliver a retrofit plan. A fabric first’ whole- home approach to retrofit is recommended as is a government-led, clear path forward to ensure necessary resources are in place. Without them, households will be left with energy-inefficient homes as local contractors won’t be mobilised to deliver necessary upgrades.
New president and members of the board
The Scotland AGM and summer reception was hosted at The Merchant’s House of Glasgow on 6 June, when the results of the 2024 Scotland Board elections were confirmed. Outgoing Scotland President, Alastair Raitt, said: “By the time nominations closed on 1 May, 13 members had submitted nominations for nine vacancies on the Scotland board. This triggered a competitive election. My thanks to all members who put themselves forward as candidates.” The following members were elected or re-elected to the Scotland Board: Angus Reid- Evans, Brendan Forbes, Colin McInnes, James Gilmour, Joshua Park, Mark MacDonald, Peter Tait, Robert Wilson and Stephen O’Neill. Dragon Homes wins at prestigious industry awards A project delivered by Aberystwyth-based Dragon Homes was recently declared the winner of the ‘Delivering Value’ category at this year’s Construction Excellence Wales Awards. The FMB member received the recognition for its project delivered for Barcud, a mid-Wales housing association, at the prestigious awards ceremony at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.
