Freedom Inc

One of the key pillars of our advocacy for Police-Free Schools is the promotion of restorative justice practices as a viable alternative to traditional punitive measures. Restorative justice emphasizes ac- countability, healing, and reconciliation, focusing on repairing harm and fostering understanding within the school community. By prioritizing restorative justice over punitive discipline, we advocate for building relationships, promoting empathy, and resolving conflicts in a manner that uplifts the voices and experiences of students while fostering a sense of collective responsibility and communal support. Through its advocacy efforts, we shed light on the need to invest in mental health resources, coun- seling services, and social-emotional support within schools as proactive measures to address un- derlying issues that may lead to disruptive behavior. By advocating for increased funding for mental health professionals, social workers, and culturally competent support staff, we believe the impor- tance of addressing the root causes of behavioral challenges and providing students with the tools and resources they need to succeed academically and emotionally.
