Additionally, the board shoulders financial and legal responsibilities while deferring to the expertise and guidance of the staff and communi- ty members in steering the organization towards its mission-driven goals and strategies. Central to the ethos of Freedom, Inc. is the mantra "Our community is our campaign," encapsulating a commitment to championing the needs and as- pirations of marginalized communities through inclusive, community-led initiatives. By prior- itizing the voices and experiences of those most vulnerable to violence, injustice, and inequality, we adopt a multi-faceted approach to achieving sustainable social change. Emphasizing leadership development, cross-sectional collaboration, and strategic goal-setting, we ensure that its efforts are

rooted in the empowerment and prosperity of its diverse constituents.

Founded in 2000 by Kabzuag Vaj, Freedom, Inc.'s origins trace back to the Asian Freedom Project, which provided a safe space for young Hmong women in Madison, WI to address pressing challenges. Over the years, we have evolved and expanded its reach to encompass Black and Southeast Asian youth, women, gen- der-nonconforming individuals, and LGBTQ communities. Through targeted programs tai- lored to the specific needs of elders, refugees, immigrants, differently-abled individuals, and the homeless within Black and Southeast Asian communities, we continue to forge ahead in its mission to foster equity, justice, and empower- ment for all.
