Crest Ink - Volume 33 - Number 02

I wanted to share the biggest surprise that my wife Candy has ever given me. I don’t think she Catching Up with the Roaths by Rob Roath

will be able to out do this one! For our 30th wedding anniversary she planned an adventure get away. We made it to our main destination; Hawk Valley Retreat and Cottages on May 13th. One word Beautiful! Not to mention serene and relaxing. Somewhere between No Mans Land and The Middle of No Where. The Innkeepers made us Lemon Chicken and Potatoes for dinner. We then journeyed into Galena for a Haunted Galena Tour. Next day breakfast in our cottage. STUFFED TO THE GILLS! Then to Dimensions Brewery in Dubuque with daughter Miriah and grandson Chris. Beer tasting...who knew? Then some sight seeing and back to cottage. Snack food and charcuterie board from the Innkeepers. Saturday morning breakfast again. I am telling you the food was beyond fantastic! Then to Savanna to explore the Haven Crest Castle. Beautiful love filled and inspirational. Then a couple of beers at the famous POOPYS Biker Bar. Candy finally got her long awaited hoodie. Afterwards a short trip to Galena Winery Vinyards to pick up some local wine. The Innkeepers made us a beautiful 1 lb each rib eye steak locally sourced, baked potato, asparagus with hollandaise, fresh sour dough bread, sparkling water and fresh homemade cheese cake. Neither of us could eat more than half so it was packed up and will be our dinner Sunday when we get home. Sunday morning lovely Croque Madame, fresh cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, juice and ice water. While watching the birds waking up and flit tering about. We had a great time and much needed down time. Very relaxing. If you have a weekend away on your agenda...this is the place to go. Our Anniversary getaway had a couple things that we weren’t able to do as planned due to the weather. But a week later on May 22nd we did it! I mean we did it BIG! We boarded a plane. And at 14,000 feet we...JUMPED! Yep for real Candy and I took the biggest leap ever! And on May 30th we were able to finish our anniversary celebrating by going back to Galena. And there we took the most beautiful flight imaginable....Hot Air Ballooning at 530am we were able to watch the sunrise come up at the horizon! So now we have put a big dent in our bucket list! And in conclusion? We decided the memories we have made will keep us from ever growing up! Think and dream big friends, you never know what tomorrow will bring! CHEERS! Rob (Warehouse A) & Candy Roath Summer Help! In addition to hiring as many employee’s kids and grandkids this summer, we went and did some recruiting at AFC High School. All together, about 30 summer help employees joined us this June work- ing in Production, Mix, and Ingredient Sanitation. We want to thank AFC for letting us recruit and we hope every- one had a good experience with their summer jobs at Crest Foods! You were a big part in helping us produce af- fordable food products for many people across the country, and we appreciate your hard work this summer!
