obtainable, try fingernail polish re mover. Fasten the pieces of string to the corners of the brown paper, and make loops on the ends to attach to four fingers.) LESSON: What is the matter with this comb? “It is broken.” Yes, it reminds us of the sick man who was brought to Jesus by his four faithful friends. You will remember that the, friends, unable to come through the door, because of the crowd, went up on the roof, made a hole, and let the man down to Jesus. We will put the comb on this paper, and show how the friends worked. With the strings attached to my fin gers, I will lower the comb to the table In front of this bottle containing red fluid. It is: red to remind us Of Christ, the One who shed 'His blood for us. We are told that the Lord Jesus for gave the man’s sins and healed his body. I will take some of the red fluid out of the bottle with this medi cine dropper and will show you how to mend the broken comb. [Put some of the acetone where the pieces join, and preSs them firmly together. very short time they will stick firmly enough to permit you to proceed with the lesson.] Christ realized that the greatest need the man had was to have his sins forgiven, and He said, “Thy sins be forgiven thee” (Mk. 2:5). Because the scribes doubted Jesus’ right to forgive sins, He said to the sick man, “Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way .into thine house” (Mk. 2:11). The man was instantly healed by Christ and went home carrying his bed. This comb, no longer broken, can now carry the bed on which it was once carried. [Put the comb under the paper and place it out of sight.] Jesus Christ wants us to be like the four faithful friends who brought the sick man to Him. He wants us to bring the unsaVed to Him for salva tion. LESSON T E X T : Lk. 6:12-26. GOLDEN T E X T : «L et you r ligh t so shine before men, that they may see your good w orks, and g lo rify your Father which is lik heaven” (Matt. 5:16). DEVOTIONAL READINGS 2 Tim. 1:3-14. Outline and Exposition I. T he T welve (12-16) « FTER A NIGHT spent in prayer (v. 12), the Lord chose the .twelve disciples from among God concerning whom He should choose. As’ the Son of God, He was omniscient; but in order to become the Saviour, He had willingly assumed a human nature and was subject to its limitations. Thus as a man, He was wholly dependent upon God; He re ferred everything to God and was given direct leading from God. Mat thew says the choosing was after Jesus beheld the multitude as sheep without a shepherd. In Mark, where our Lord appears as the Servant, the record indicates that they were chosen to be fishers (cf. Matt. 9:36 to 10:1; Mk. 1:16-20). The names of the twelve chosen ones are given, beginning with Peter,
