THE GOD OF ORDER For efficiency in performance, an army requires many men fulfilling a number of varied duties. The rifleman has to be backed up by an interworking of the entire force. This was evidenced by the "D Day" attack by our troops on the Nor­ mandy beachhead in World War II. Naval artillery and air units were all required. This is to say nothing of those responsible for supplying food, ammunition, fuel, and medi­ cal needs. In a similar manner the Church of Jesus Christ must inter­ lock. Every believer has been given by God some special gift, empow­ ered by the Holy Spirit. The Bible

admonishes us, "Let all things be done decently and in order" (I Corinthians 14:40). Unfortunately in many cases, chaos, confusion, and extreme frustration are seen. Paul's exhortation is for a manner of worship and life which can make a pleasing impression on those who may not know Christ. To have things in "order" means a functioning unit, as in an army, where everyone keeps his place and acts at the proper time and manner. There is a real danger when one believer, or even one church, seeks to act apart from others. Every congregation should be an harmonious and well-organ-
