Financial wellness ACCORDING TO the Future of Pay research study by ADP, the global technology and human resources business, 90% of millennials are willing to share personal information with a payroll provider in order to receive support with their financial wellbeing, as are half (50%) of UK employees. The study, which surveyed 4,000 employees and 2,900 businesses to explore workers’ perceptions and attitudes towards traditional and emerging pay methods to address some of the biggest human capital management concerns, also found that 62% of employees say that off-cycle pay options would make a difference when considering a job offer. This illustrates that financial wellness support can improve not only current employees’ productivity, but also how attractive a business is to potential new talent as there is a clear demand, if not expectation, of financial assistance from employers. Jeff Phipps, ADP UK’s managing director, commented: “Offering flexible pay may not be feasible for all organisations, such as smaller businesses with limited cash flow. “In order to make sure financial wellbeing programs are effective, and that personal data is being used appropriately, businesses need to collaborate and communicate clearly with their employees.” Flexi Pay roll out INDEPENDENT HEALTHCARE provider, Newcross Healthcare, has begun rolling out Flexi Pay for healthcare staff to claim an advance on their pay immediately after they complete a shift. The move is part of a programme to recruit and retain staff across the business. Flexi Pay is delivered through HealthForceGo, an app developed in-house which matches shifts with the best qualified staff available. Payments are made to staff through Lloyds Banking Group which developed a unique interface in partnership with Newcross enabling staff to receive their payment instantly. Newcross Healthcare staff have the option to request up to 50% of the pay for their completed shift, with funds deposited in their bank account as soon as their shift has been validated. The service is available 24/7, 365 days per year, which means staff can be in receipt of funds immediately their shift ends. Stephen Pattrick, Newcross Healthcare chief executive officer and co-founder, commented: “We’re investing in technologies which enable our staff to be auto-assigned shifts based on their availability, to train in an online learning environment and now to choose whether they request flexi pay at any time of the day to receive funds into their bank account instantly.”
