A6.02 Carparking cont... • Car stackers are to be avoided due to associated maintenance and operation issues. If car stackers are proposed, the project team is to obtain prior approval from Housing Choices. • Allow for a lockable storage room large enough for tenants moving in or out to store the contents of their apartment, nominally 30-40m 2 . SDA Car Parking Considerations Checklist: • Refer to NDIS SDA Design Standard. • SDA developments include at least one designated vehicle drop-off and pick-up zone for use by occupants with a disability. • Ratio of accessible car spaces for SDA dwellings is to be determined on a case by case basis in consultation with Housing Choices.

Safety in Design & Security Section Summary

Any new development should create an urban environment that enhances personal safety and property security and where people feel safe to live or visit at any time. Safety and Security Considerations Checklist: • The design and detailing of buildings and landscape to avoid recesses where people can be concealed from view and may become security risks. • Material specification and landscape design to deter vandalism and graffiti. • Include sightlines that encourage passive surveillance. Dwellings and building entrances to have direct views to the street wherever possible. • Lighting to all entrances, main entry pathways and resident car parking facilities. Lighting levels near CCTV cameras (where provided) needs to be sufficient. • CCTV cameras should be provided to all external pedestrian and vehicular access and egress points, communal lobbies, lifts and any bin rooms. • All basement carparks require automatic garage doors connected to security system. • All security measures must tie in with emergency fire egress systems. • All public entry points to have an intercom system with voice and video capabilities installed within each apartment. • In response to COVID, hygiene needs to be considered as part of the safety strategy for all sites. This should include consideration of material selection, particularly at high traffic touch points, maintenance, project lifecycle and cleaning regimes.
