Appliances Section Summary

• Future space provision and plumbing to be provided for a dishwasher (no dishwasher to be provided. Consider utilising this space by incorporating temporary or removable shelving. SDA Appliances Considerations Checklist: • Refer to NDIS SDA Design Standard. • Slide-out, drawer-style dishwasher to be provided, installed in accessible location. • Side opening oven to be provided, installed in accessible location. • Induction cooktop to be provided. • Shallow sink provided (max. depth of 180mm) • Rangehood can be operated from a seated position or can be modified at a later time to do so.

Appliances need to be locally sourced, easily maintained with parts readily available within Australia. Housing Choices maintenance team will need to approve any proposed substitutions. Appliances Considerations Checklist: • All kitchens must include space provisions for oven, cook top, refrigerator, rangehood, mi-crowave oven, and dishwasher. • A fridge space with a minimum width of 900mm is to be allowed for the residents’ own re-frigerator. Fridge openings to be left as free space not built into joinery so tenant fridge siz-es are not restricted. Fridge space to include one double GPO. • Appliances to be as per Housing Choices specification. Similar or equal

substitutions require Housing Choices approval. • Shelf and GPO for microwave to be provided. • Gas appliances are not acceptable.

High Density Appliances Considerations Checklist: • Generally, as dwellings within High Density projects are more compact than those in Low Density projects, bins are to be stored within a cupboard, such as under the sink. Space provision for a minimum of three waste streams is to be provided. • Fridges spaces may be reduced to 600mm but preference for fridge openings to be left as free space and not built into joinery, so tenant fridge sizes are not restricted. • Bin cupboards/drawers may be acceptable where space is limited, and bins can be accommodated under kitchen sinks. • Future space provision and plumbing to be provided for a dishwasher (no dishwasher to be provided). Low Density Appliances Considerations Checklist: • It is preferred that clear space for rubbish bins is provided at the end of the kitchen joinery over including space for bins within cupboards.
