External lighting Section Summary To provide efficient and high-quality external lighting.

D3.05

Power and data Section Summary

Power and data requirements are listed in the table below. Layouts and outlet positions should be considered in relation to function and to ensure that are not obstructed by furniture placement.

External Lighting Considerations Checklist: • All dwellings shall, as a minimum, be provided with suitable external lighting to both the front and rear entrances and balconies. (Low level brick lights, bollard lights, wall mounted, street lighting). • Consider providing diffuse lighting which avoids “spotlighting” over the path of travel, provides visibility to immediate surrounding area, and can improve perceptions of safety for building users. This can include fixtures located below eye level, such as those recessed into hand railings, spike lights located within landscaped areas, and bollard lights. • All external lighting to be designed to avoid light spill within the site and to neighbouring properties. • External ambient lighting to common areas shall be provided in accordance with the Australian Standards and may be increased beyond minimum requirements to address specific security concerns. • External lighting and all common areas accessible by residents shall be controlled via adjustable photoelectric cells, time clocks and manually switched from local distribution board and include occupant detection and daylight adjustment lighting control. • Carparks are to have LED linear fittings with polycarbonate covers. • Carparking and path of travel to dwelling entrances are well illuminated to assist with wayfinding. • Areas to be covered by CCTV cameras must be adequately lit for CCTV operations. High Density External Lighting Considerations Checklist: • Provide lighting solutions to define pathways between any transport set-downs and to building entrances and community facilities.
