SDA Phone, Internet and Emergency Communication Requirements: Requirements of NDIS SDA Design Standard and Housing Choices summarised below: • Capacity provided for one hard-wired phone account – phone is to have capacity for VOIP using NBN (Voice Over Internet Protocol) • Capacity for one dedicated Wi-Fi point per dwelling for use of assistive technology only. • Additional data point provided in bedroom to allow plug in of infrared devices. • Capacity for remote two-way communication between occupant and support person (OOA dwelling) – eg. via future installation of ceiling- mounted speakers and microphone. Requirements for onsite overnight assistance (OOA dwelling) associated with SDA include: • Provision of data point and Wi-Fi point in likely desk location. • Capacity for remote two-way communication between support staff and occupants in SDA dwelling.
