From the UW-Stevens Point CNR Dean Welcome to the UW–Stevens Point College of Natural Resources. We are glad you are here for the annual Jim and Katie Krause CNR Student Research Symposium. Today’s event highlights a wide range of student research projects that reflect the curiosity, dedication, and passion that define our college. Our presenters have taken meaningful steps beyond the classroom, exploring new questions, testing ideas, and sharing what they’ve learned. These experiences build confidence and skills that will shape their future careers and contributions to their communities. This symposium is made possible through the efforts of many. Our student planning committee plays a central role in organizing the event each year, and their commit- ment is evident throughout the day. Our faculty mentors, Shelli DuBay, Rob Mich- itsch, and Mike Tiller, provide the guidance and support that help students bring their projects to life. We are also grateful to Jim and Katie Krause, whose generosity has allowed this sym- posium to grow and thrive. Their belief in undergraduate research and in the mission of the College of Natural Resources continues to make a lasting impact. And to all faculty and staff who contribute to this work through mentorship and en - couragement, your role is essential in creating these opportunities. Thank you for joining us, and please enjoy the symposium. Best regards,
Brian L. Sloss Dean of the College of Natural Resources UW-Stevens Point
