This lecture aims to outline and discuss the most common injuries can be successfully treated via arthrodesis. We will further discuss those joints and injuries that can be successfully managed with a partial fusion of the joint. All material will be complimented with case example radiographs, pictures and videos where appropriate. PELVIC FRACTURES – NAVIGATING A CHALLENGING DIAGNOSTIC & TREATMENT CONDITION Stephen Jones, MVB, MS, DACVS_SA, DECVS 10:30 AM - 11:20 AM | Ballroom C This lecture aims to describe the multitude of pelvic fracture presentations that we can be faced with. The main aim of this talk is to discuss which fractures can be treated conservatively vs. by surgery, and to expand upon the advised surgical options. Unfortunately, making the correct diagnosis and recommending the most appropriate treatment is not always easy. This lecture aims to discuss the most common pathologies affecting the shoulder joint, how best to diagnose them and the recommended treatments.
LEPTOSPIROSIS IN DOGS (AND CATS): A REVIEW Andrew Hanzlicek, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM) 2:00 PM - 2:50 PM | Room 201 AB This state-of-the-art review will discuss the most recent clinical practice recommendations for diagnosis, treatment, and treatment monitoring of leptospirosis in dogs. Being an important zoonotic disease, recommendations for minimizing risk to hospital personnel and pet-owners will also be discussed. PROTOZOAL DISEASES IN CATS AND DOGS: A REVIEW Andrew Hanzlicek, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM) 3:00 PM - 3:50 PM | Room 201 AB This discussion includes clinically important protozoal diseases in cats and dogs - toxoplasmosis, neosporosis, hepatozoonosis, Chagas (trypanosomiasis), babesios, and cytauxzoonosis. Clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment, and treatment monitoring will be included. Recent research findings affecting clinical practice will be highlighted. EHRLICHIOSIS AND ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPOTTED FEVER IN DOGS: A REVIEW Andrew Hanzlicek, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM) 4:30 PM - 5:20 PM | Room 201 AB This discussion will include 2 clinically important vector borne diseases - ehrlichiosis and rocky mountain spotted fever. The 2 diseases have overlapping enzoootic geographic ranges and clinical findings and a compare-and-contrast approach will be used to highlight recommendations in clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment and treatment monitoring.

PATELLAR LUXATION – A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT Stephen Jones, MVB, MS, DACVS_SA, DECVS 8:00 AM - 8:50 AM | Ballroom C This lecture will provide an overview of patellar luxation diagnosis and treatment options. The attendee will get a visual (picture and video) overview of the commonly performed surgical interventions for dogs with patellar luxation.
