LOVELY WHISKEY SMASH

Devon Evert | Banquet Manager | Loveland Embassy Suites When prompted by my General Manager and banquet staff to design a drink to represent our hotel and state, I thought of the flavors that make Colorado special. With cherry and peach season just ending, and whiskey being a favorite spirit by many in our state, what better than to make a refreshing cocktail combining all three.

Ingredients

1.5 oz Whiskey (Makers Mark) .75 oz Cherry Simple Syrup* .5 oz Lemon Juice .25 oz Peach Schnapps (Mr. Boston)

4 Mint Leaves 8 Cubed Peach

2 Cherries Club Soda

Cherry Simple Syrup 1 cup Water 1 cup Sugar

1.Muddle mint leaves, peaches, and cherries in the bottom of a shaker. 2.Add whiskey, cherry simple syrup, lemon juice, and peach schnapps to shaker and shake softly. 3. Strain cocktail into a rocks glass with ice, top off drink with club soda. 4. Garnish cocktail with a peach wedge and sprig of mint 5. Making cherry simple syrup- Combine water, sugar, and cherries to pot over medium heat. 6.Bring to a simmer and macerate cherries. 7.Simmer for 8-10 minutes, then remove from heat 8.Let cool and strain out solids, keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks. Instructions 1 cup Cherries
