CHERRY SHRUB
Hana Colvin | Director of Culinary Excellence | Corporate Back in the day, scurvy was a real problem for sailors on long voyages, and vinegar turned out to be a smart way to preserve fruit - and help keep everyone healthy at sea. The history of food preservation has always fascinated me, and it’s part of what inspired this drink. I’ve always had a soft spot for cherry limeade, and these days I make some version of it every night before bed - my own “sleepy girl mocktail.” The mix of sour cherry and apple cider might sound like one of those trendy wellness drinks, but its long history and depth of flavor speak for themselves. The rosemary brings a smoky, unexpected twist, though tangerine juice or lavender honey make great swaps when you want to change it up.
