When I tried a vegan diet I really missed fried catfish, so I tried it with tofu and this came out great and delicious.
Ingredients
Cajun Vegan Remoulade .75 cup Vegan Mayo 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard .5 tsp Crystal Hot Sauce
16 oz Block Extra Firm Tofu .75 cup Water (optional for fish flavor) .5 tsp Salt (optional for fish flavor) 1 tsp Nori Strip (optional for fish flavor) 22 oz Louisiana Brand New Orleans Style Fish Fry Box 3 cup Peanut Oil 1 cup Cajun Vegan Remoulade (to Serve with)
3 tsp Vegan Worcestershire 2 tsp Lemon Juice .5 tsp Cajun Seasoning .5 tsp Garlic Powder .5 tsp Cayenne Pepper Powder 1.5 tsp Dried Parsley .5 Salt
3 tsp Capers (minced) 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
Instructions
1.Drain and press tofu. 2.In a shallow dish, stir together water, salt, and nori strips until the salt dissolves. 3.Slice the tofu block into eight 1"x 5" sticks. 4.Place tofu sticks in ocean flavor marinade and let them marinate for 30 minutes to 3 hours. 5.Remove tofu from marinade and shake off excess moisture (you want them slightly damp). 6.Pour the contents of Louisiana Brand New Orleans Style Fish Fry into a shallow dish. 7.Add tofu sticks to the dredge mixture, making sure they’re well-coated on all sides. 8.Add peanut oil to a large Dutch oven and heat the oil to 375°F. 9.Add the tofu sticks to the Dutch oven (don’t overcrowd) and fry for 2-3 minutes per side. 10.Serve hot with Cajun vegan remoulade.
