HISTORY OF BONNET CREEK
Did you know Bonnet Creek is its own privately owned parcel and not Disney-owned or part of the larger Reedy Creek area? Bonnet Creek Preserve is a 482-acre enclave in the southeast corner of Walt Disney World® and bordered on three sides by Disney-owned land and on the fourth side by Interstate 4. The preserve is named after the Bonnet Creek, which runs through the property.
The Bonnet Creek area exists due to the original owner not selling it to Disney developers in the 60s when they wanted to incorporate it into Reedy Creek. To this day the parcel of Bonnet Creek remains privately owned and is a testament to the owner’s wish to preserve the land and Florida wildlife.
