Small Steps Beat Procrastination Every Time STOP LETTING THE IRS LOOM OVER YOU
We’ve all been there: facing something we don’t really want to deal with, and considering what’s the easiest thing to do? Put it off. Procrastination has this sneaky way of making us feel safe in the moment, but in reality, it piles up the stress until one day it feels like a mountain we can’t climb. This is very true when it comes to dealing with the IRS. Over the last few years, the IRS hasn’t exactly been operating at full speed. Since COVID-19, they’ve taken more of a passive approach. They put several enforcement programs on hold and, honestly, never fully turned the lights back on. For some people, that felt like a blessing, providing more breathing room and less pressure. But here’s the thing: Breathing room isn’t the same as freedom. That tax bill isn’t going anywhere, and the longer you put it off, the more difficult it gets to move forward. That’s where the real challenge begins. It’s not so much about whether you can take on the IRS in one giant leap, because let’s be honest, you can’t. The key is consistent forward movement, one step at a time, because the only way to beat procrastination is by doing something every single day that brings you closer to your goal. That’s how you kick butt. Think about it this way: Most people see failure as the opposite of success. They hear the word “failure” and immediately think it means they’ve lost, the game’s over, they’re done. But that’s not the truth at all. Failure isn’t the end; it’s just part of the process. In fact, failure is a stepping stone. Every time you stumble, you’re learning how to get back up and move forward a little stronger. That’s the difference between letting failure hold you down as a stumbling block versus using it to climb toward success.
taking one step forward only to get pushed two steps back. But here’s the part that matters most: You get back up. That’s what Rocky Balboa was talking about, right? It’s not about how many times you get hit. It’s about how many times you can take the hit, get back up, and keep fighting. Now, tie that idea to your financial journey. Maybe you owe money to the IRS. Maybe you’ve been carrying that burden longer than you’d like. The question isn’t “Why did I let this happen?” or “What if I fail again?” The real question is “What can I do today to move forward?” It could be making a phone call, setting up a plan, or even just getting the right advice. Each step counts, and each movement forward is a win. Every day you choose to act, no matter how small, you’re kicking butt, making National Kick Butt Day on October 13 so fun and important. It’s a reminder of what it means to keep going, face what feels overwhelming, push through procrastination, and reclaim control of your future. It’s not about pretending the challenges don’t exist. It’s about refusing to let them stop you! -Ben Golden

Smooth Sailing I Your Q4 Prepar
As the year winds down, most business owners are laser-focused on hitting revenue goals and closing out projects. But lurking just around the corner is tax season. The good news is that a little preparation in Q4 can save you major headaches (and money) when filing time arrives. Think of it as giving your future self a big high-five. Here’s a checklist to help you get ahead. 1. Review your financial statements. Before January hits, take a good look at your profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow report. Do the numbers reflect where your business actually stands? Spotting discrepancies now means fewer surprises later. If you’re working with an accountant, this is the perfect time to have them review and highlight any red flags. 2. Organize receipts and records. Shoeboxes full of crumpled receipts are a nightmare waiting to happen. Use Q4 to digitize your records, categorize expenses, and reconcile accounts. Cloud-based accounting tools make this painless and ensure you won’t miss out on valuable deductions.
When it comes to sweet victories, nothing quite compares to ice cream, especially if you’re thousands of miles from home and dodging enemy fire. During the final stretch of World War II, the U.S. Army took dessert diplomacy to a new level with the launch of three massive, concrete-hulled floating freezers designed to deliver joy on a cone. These weren’t your average supply ships. Measuring nearly the length of a football field, these refrigerated barges churned out 500 gallons of ice cream a day, bringing spoonfuls of comfort to troops stationed across the Pacific. Nicknamed BRLs (short for “barge, refrigerated, large”), these floating fortresses of frozen delight also carried loads of meat, fresh produce, eggs, and cheese. But let’s be honest: Everyone came for the ice cream. Whether they were battling the tropics or homesickness, a scoop of chocolate or vanilla was the perfect morale booster for the troops. Too far from a BRL? No worries. American ingenuity didn’t stop at the shoreline. Aviators on high-altitude flights transformed their B-17 bombers into makeshift ice cream makers by stashing cans of the mixture on board. The vibrations and freezing temperatures worked like a charm, turning turbulent missions into frozen dessert production. These sweet efforts weren’t about indulgence but about reminding the troops of life back home, of simpler pleasures, and that even in war, a little scoop of normalcy could make all the difference. Ice cream may not have won the war, but it certainly made the battlefield a little more bearable. HOW AMERICA SHIPPED SWEETNESS TO THE FRONT LINES Ice Cream on Deck!
3. Maximize deductions before Dec. 31. Many expenses are only deductible in the year they occur. A new laptop, team training, or office upgrade could lower your taxable income if purchased before

When CNC Status Helps Eliminate Tax Debt CASE SNAPSHOT Client: Alabama Business Owner Type of IRS Issue: Failure to File Tax Years in Question: Multiple IRS Claimed Liability: $2,977,615.15 Savings Secured: $2,726,207.32 Our client, a contractor, had gone years without filing. The IRS stepped in and filed substitute returns, totalling nearly $3 million! We were able to successfully enter the client into a Currently Not Collectible status and keep him there while the collection statutes continued to run. CNC status doesn’t always ensure the liability will go away, but in this particular case, we were able to let the client know that $2.7 million had dropped off his tax liability! We can now negotiate a reasonable Installment Agreement for the remaining balance with our client, lifting this tremendous burden and nearly ending his IRS troubles! WIN OF THE MONTH
