14. 1909-11 T206 Chief Bender (HOF - Trees) - PSA EX 5
15. 1909-11 T206 Chief Bender (HOF) - SGC EX 5
This nicely executed Chief Bender “with trees’ pose from T206, presents the Hall-of-Fame pitcher in an almost sneaky pose-check out how his eyes are looking to his right while his body is moving left. Oddly pastoral, with a tree line in the background, it’s one of the more interesting cards in a set not lacking for interesting subjects. Nicely centered and fairly graded at PSA 5, the front is super colorful, with very subtle green shading and some understated reds meriting a closer look. The reverse is a Piedmont 350 Factory 25, which has a small bit of tobacco residue adhering. MINIMUM BID: $150
Chief Bender’s got three poses in T206 and this is one of two action images therein. This SGC 5 is richly colored and presents with some agreeable centering. It’s a looker, no doubt about it. The back is a Sweet Caporal 350 Factory 30 and its every bit as nice as the front. Some evidence of contact with the tobacco in the slide-and-shell pack can be seen on the bottom half of the reverse but it’s faint. Excellent condition T206’s are where the overall graded populations start to clearly divide and 5’s are on the positive side of that arc. MINIMUM BID: $250
16. 1909-11 T206 Roger Bresnahan (HOF - w/Bat) - SGC EX-NM 6
17. 1909-11 T206 Mordecai Brown (HOF - Cubs on Shirt) - PSA EX 5
Roger Bresnahan (with bat) in an SGC EX/MT holder, centered to the upper left but quite strong, with superb color and clarity. Nicely edged, with the corners showing a hint of wear. The Piedmont 350 Factory 25 reverse has some staining, possibly from pack contact with tobacco. MINIMUM BID: $400
Three Finger Brown (Cubs on Shirt) is the Hall-of-Fame image encased here in a PSA 5 holder. Well-centered and defined, bright yellow sky smoothly merges with green grass as Brown follows through. A small mark appears in the upper right border, with just a hint of product staining in the lower right. The Piedmont 150 Factory 25 back is quite nice. An outstanding midgrade Hall of Famer from the prewar hobby’s most desirable issue. MINIMUM BID: $750
