emerging as quarter finalists, and were runners up in the Rossall School Invitational Plate. U11A team: Isabella Banham, Sophie Boyle, Inés Fox, Zara Hardcastle, Anabelle Lipscombe, Jemima Morris Yousaf, Philippa Rajadurai, Arabella Roberts and Mia Whitton . Our Under 12 team competed in the Independent Schools Hockey Festival in Nottingham, where they demonstrated superb hockey skills in matches against eight schools. The girls showed great determination and resilience in horrendous weather, with Izabel Hardy and Sienna Brittan scoring brilliant goals. U12 team: Sienna Brittan, Annabelle Godfrey, Amélie Rose Godley, Izabel Hardy, Mia Latt, Tiamii Roberts, Josie Tunnicliffe, Rosalie Walker, Alexandra Whysall and Minnie Wildes . The Under 16 team saw successes in a variety of fixtures. This includes the England Hockey Plate , where they were quarter finalists, and the Chester and District Hockey Championship , where they emerged winners. The team were also champions of the North West Indoor Championship , winning matches against The King’s School Chester, Cheadle Hulme and Rossall School to secure a place in the finals. At the England Hockey Indoor National Finals , the girls finished 7th place – the highest Queen’s has ever achieved. U16 team: Francesca Barnes, Clemence Batt, Matilda Dempsey, Sophie Edwards, Martha Fletcher, Felicity Garnett, Alicia Johnstone, Elena Lyons, Lucy Mackay, Aster McCann, Millicent MacDonald, Emily Owen, Chloe Roberts and Lucy Watson . This year saw a fantastic hockey season for our 1st XI team. The girls enjoyed many wins and successes, including an amazing cup run in the Independent Schools Hockey League , which saw the team finish in the top eight schools in the country! 1st XI team: Francesca Barnes, Alexa Byrne, Matilda Dempsey, Martha Fletcher, Felicity Garnett, Abigail Jeavons, Alicia Johnstone, Elena Lyons, Lucy Mackay, Aster McCann, Emily Owen, Chloe Roberts, Manon Wagenaar and Ruby Whysall.
Individually, our girls continue to achieve outstanding success outside of school hockey. Francesca Barnes, Matilda Dempsey, Elena Lyons, Aster McCann and Chloe Roberts were selected for the England Hockey Talent Academy, with Matilda also being selected for a national age group squad and representing Wales. Aster McCann competed in her first national league hockey match for Bowden versus East Grinstead, playing against several Great Britain and England players. Isabelle Hubberstey represented the U14 Cheshire County team, and Sienna Bennett, Alexandra Whysall and Minnie Wildes represented the U12 Cheshire County team. • Football Football has continued its development at Queen’s, with over 40 games being played across the Lower and Senior School this year. In a friendly match against Eccleston Primary School, our Under 11 team came away winners after a great performance, with some excellent goals from Mia Whitton . This year, the team, along with many of our Under 10 footballers, competed again in the AJIS tournament , coming joint third and winning the third position play off. They also demonstrated excellent performances in a match against Acresfield Primary School, with some great saves from Maisie Barlow and a superb goal from Arabella Roberts . Under 12 and 13 footballers have played a mixture of friendly matches and cup competitions. A notable win for our Under 12 team was against Merchant Taylor’s School with superb performances from all girls, including goals from Rosalie Walker and Minnie Wildes . Our Under 14 team saw success in the first round of the Sisters n Sport tournament as they emerged winners after some great goals from Beyza Dogan, Matilda Penny and Sophie Rowlands . A couple of our Under 14 footballers also joined our Under 15 team as they competed in the Chester and District Cup , demonstrating excellent football skills in a close match that went into extra time. • Swimming Our Lower and Senior School swimmers have seized many opportunities for competitive swim this year, from our Lower School annual Inter House Swimming Gala to national swimming competitions. In March, our Year 6 team entered the Northwest Division of the ESSA Primary Relay Championships and achieved excellent times in both the medley and freestyle relays. Year 6 team: Poppy Binks, Sophia Lee, Philippa Rajadurai and Thea Teese . Our Year 6 swimmers were also delighted to attend the AJIS swimming gala in Macclesfield, the first since Covid, with Sophie earning a place in the backstroke finals. Years 7, 8 and 10 swimmers entered the English School’s
