DAY 1: ARRIVE IN HANOI Land in Hanoi and meet your guide at the airport. Transfer to your hotel for check-in and spend this afternoon exploring this exciting capital city. See fast scooters zip between colonial buildings and busy markets, or head to the pretty Hoan Kiem Lake to relax before dinner. Overnight stay. DAY 2: HANOI SIGHTSEEING This morning, start your tour with a stroll to Ba Dinh Square - the site of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where Vietnamese independence was declared in 1945. Visit the home of former Vietnam leader, Ho Chi Minh; then head to Presidential Palace, One Pillar Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Museum, Temple of Literature, and Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. Next, tour the ancient streets of the Old Quarter and sample some street- food favourites. Overnight in Hanoi. DAY 3: HA LONG BAY With your guide, head to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay. Featuring coves, caves and islands; you arrive at lunchtime and board your boat for an overnight voyage - which includes a seafood lunch and dinner. DAY 4: HA LONG BAY AND HOI AN Sail past limestone pillars and untouched island forests in the bay before disembarking for your flight to Danang. En route, stop at a pagoda or pottery village as you pass rice fields and the Red River delta with your guide. Land in Danang where you’re greeted and taken to your hotel in Hoi An - a city renowned for its canals and old town district. DAY 5: HOI AN AND SUNSET KAYAKING Walk along cobbled streets and see the 200-year-old Tan Ky House, as well as Tran Quoc Pagoda, Phung Hung Old House and Japanese Bridge. Next, cycle to the river where you get in a kayak and explore the local fishing communities. You then start your coracle boat cruise with a drink of your choice as the sun sets. Overnight in Hoi An. DAY 6: HOI AN Today, experience free time in Hoi An. See old tea warehouses, watch wildlife on Cam Kim Island, visit the 17th-century Quan Cong Temple, or relax on one of Hoi An’s beaches. The city is home to countless shops and stalls where you can buy fruit, textiles and souvenirs, as well as many restaurants.
DAY 7: HO CHI MINH CITY In the early morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Transfer to your hotel and check in before heading out to explore the area. This commercial city features many malls, cafés and skyscrapers, but still has plenty of old sites - including Notre Dame Cathedral and Jade Emperor Pagoda. Visit the energetic Ben Thanh Night Market before your overnight stay. DAY 8: CU CHI TUNNELS After breakfast, travel to the 120km- long tunnel network of Củ Chi - built by Communist forces in the 1940s and expanded during the Vietnam War. Used for housing troops, transporting supplies and launching attacks, you can even enter the tunnels to experience the harsh conditions before returning to Ho Chi Minh City in late afternoon. DAY 9: SIEM REAP Enjoy some free time this morning before your transfer to the airport. Land in Siem Reap and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Siem Reap, the gateway to the temples of Angkor, is a fast-growing city where you can see Phare The Cambodian Circus and try homemade liqueur at Sombai distillery. Visit bars and restaurants before your overnight stay. DAY 10: ANGKOR WAT AND ANGKOR THOM Meet your guide this morning and visit the 12th-century Angkor Wat - a UNESCO World Heritage site and now a national symbol. Head ‘off the beaten track’ and enjoy a picnic and foot massage at a neighbouring temple! Next is Angkor Thom and its popular Bayon Temple - a Buddhist structure consisting of towers and smiling stone faces. Visit the Elephant and Leper King Terraces, before returning to Siem Reap. DAY 11: KOMPONG KHLEANG Depart for Kompong Khleang - a village that is relatively unknown to many tourists. See stilt houses, floodplains and rice paddies before meeting crocodile-rearing families! Sail through canals to a nearby lake, before returning for a picnic in the village. Enjoy your last night with free time in lively Siem Reap. DAY 12: DEPART FROM SIEM REAP After breakfast, buy your last-minute souvenirs and travel to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
