DAY 8: YANKIN HILL Gain an insight into the daily lives of the monasteries’ monks and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding rice fields from the top of Yankin Hill. Eat lunch with a local family in the countryside and see the famous Mahamuni Buddha Temple which is covered completely with gold leaf. DAY 9: SAGAING, AVA AND AMARAPURA Discover Myanmar’s previous capital cities of Sagaing, Ava and Amarapura. See Sagaing Hill - known as the spiritual hub of Myanmar, then ride in a traditional horse and carriage to the wooden Bagaya Monastery in Ava. Your afternoon is spent in Amarapura. DAY 10: MONYWA Drive from Mandalay towards Monywa on the banks of the Chindwin River. Cross the river by ferry and arrive at Po Win Taung, a breathtaking structure of 947 sandstone caves. Just metres away, find the fascinating Shwe Ba Taung, with temples and monasteries carved in to the cliff face. DAY 11: PAKOKKU AND BAGAN Experience the culture and way of life in rural villages before arriving at Pakokku - a busy market town on the Irrawaddy River. Enjoy a calming riverboat journey to Bagan and transfer to your hotel for a night’s stay. DAY 12: BAGAN Visit the lively Nyaung U Market. Here, you will find a great selection of fresh produce and handmade goods. Discover Old Bagan, home to the renowned Shwezigon Pagoda. Watch the sunset from a temple terrace before returning to your hotel for the night. DAY 13: YANGON Transfer to Bagan Airport for your flight to Yangon. Enjoy the day exploring the city at your own pace. See the unique skyline of golden Buddhist temples and modern, high- rise buildings, before an overnight stay.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN YANGON Land in Myanmar and meet your local guide who takes you to your hotel for an overnight stay. Make the most of your leisure time in the afternoon and explore Myanmar’s largest city - Yangon. Discover the colonial background and religious traditions of the country’s former capital. DAY 2: YANGON CITY TOUR Begin your tour in downtown Yangon, before exploring the side streets filled with vibrant markets. Meet a fortune teller on Sule Pagoda Road, then visit the 65m reclining Buddha with intricate carvings at Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda. Spend sunset in Chinatown at the colourful Kheng Hock Keong temple. DAY 3: PINDAYA After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Heho. Travel through the mountain ranges to reach Pindaya - a small town on the banks of Botoloke Lake - and visit the renowned Pindaya caves, home to thousands of ancient Buddha images formed more than 200 million years ago. DAY 4: INLE LAKE BOAT TRIP Today, visit Inle Lake. Sail across one of Myanmar’s most breathtaking sights on a private boat. Pass unique overwater villages inhabited by the local Intha people and see fishermen seeking their catch. Stop at Inpawkhone - a weaving village - and buy handcrafted gifts made from lotus flower stems. DAY 5: KHAUNG DAING Sail to Khaung Daing on the western shores of Inle Lake. Sample local specialities along the footpaths of the village including tofu and fried beans, and see how they’re made in family-run workshops. Follow an optional cycling tour to Nyaung Shwe before your overnight stay. DAY 6: KALAW Today, travel through the scenic Shan Hills to Kalaw. Walk to the village of Panenebin and learn about the local way of life. Rest and chat with locals before beginning your return hike. Stay overnight in your Kalaw hotel.
