A painted journey around the world. With Mirages du monde , the La Malmaison Art Centre is staging a major retrospective of Hervé Di Rosa, an artist from Sète and a leading artist in the Figuration Libre movement. Bringing together 103 works from every period, the exhibition traces a career that continually blurs the lines between contemporary art, popular culture and traditional craft. Organised into three sections, the route follows the evolution of an instantly recognisable body of work. From the 1980s onwards, his paintings reveal the hallmarks of his artistic world: whimsical characters, bold colours, humour and a free-spirited style. The exhibition also highlights the travels that profoundly shaped his practice. In Vietnam, Ghana, South Africa and Mexico, Hervé Di Rosa worked with local craftspeople, incorporating their techniques into his artistic language. His latest works carry this exploration further, blending cultural memory, storytelling flair and formal inventiveness. Outside, six sculptures installed on the forecourt and the roof complete the route. A journey through the world of an artist who made the blending of imaginations his trademark.
