Snuggled at the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains in the celebrated Franschhoek valley, Vrede en Lust celebrates three centuries of winemaking excellence. Its vineyards are between 150m and 280m above sea level, protected by high mountain peaks. The diversity of the soils and elevations are closely linked with the quality of wines produced. The higher elevated vineyards have well-drained weathered granite soils, with good water retention. The lower lying sections consist of loamy and alluvial based soils, well suited for the Rhone cultivars.
