556. 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Autograph Collection - Two Team-Signed Balls w/Roberto Clemente! (JSA) Outstanding collection of memories relating to the 1960 World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates, and a fan’s trip from Iowa toMilwaukee to see the Pirates play the Braves. Included in the collection are 1) Signed letter from Pirates GM Joe Brown: The fan arranged with Pirates’ General Manager Joe Brown to meet members of the team while they were traveling into Milwaukee. The letter provides the fan with instructions on how to potentially meet up with the team. Quite incredible to think that such a meeting was even a possibility, given today’s standards and fans’ lack of access to players. 2) 1960 World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates Team-Signed Baseball w/Clemente: Attractive Spalding ONL (Giles) baseball, featuring 23 signatures of members of the 1960 Pirates. The ball presents
wonderfully, thanks to a very light coating of shellac. The signature of Roberto Clemente is bright and bold, applied near the stamping. Other signatures include Dick Groat, Bennie Daniels, Bill Virdon, Don Hoak, Elroy Face, Ron Kline, Smoky Burgess, Rocky Nelson, Dick Stuart, Mickey Vernon, Fred Green, Gino Cimoli, Vernon Law, Joe Christopher, Bob Friend, Jim Umbricht, Dick Schofield, and a few illegible. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. 2) 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals Baseball w/Clemente & Musial: S palding ONL (Giles) Baseball featuring 31 signatures of members of the Pirates and Cardinals, highlighted by Roberto Clemente and Stan Musial. The signatures well-used baseball have faded, some considerably, including that of Clemente. Among the 31 signatures is a clubhouse signature of Bill Mazeroski. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Three interesting mementoes related to the improbable Championship ballclub of 1960. MINIMUM BID: $500.00
