Education / Qualification and training • SIA license holder (E) (AP) • Full UK driving license (manual) (E) (AP) • Educated to A-level standard or higher (D) (AP) • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification (D) (AP) Knowledge / Skills • Have a good knowledge of the security industry in a large multi-site operation (E) (AP/I) • Knowledge of current security and access control systems legislation, including the Data Protection Act, CCTV systems (D) (AP/I) • Computer literate and excellent use of Microsoft Office packages (D) (AP/I) • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both spoken and written (E) (AP/I) Experience • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar managerial role of security staff covering management of night staff, events and incident management (E) (AP/I) • Experience of working with Trade Unions to resolve conflict or other issues in the workplace (D) (AP/I) • Experience in dealing with HR matters including sickness absence, discipline matters, performance issues, PDRs, and misconduct investigations (E) (AP/I) • Experience in delivering training to staff on a range of security matters, policies, assignment instructions and operational response plans (D) (AP/I) Personal characteristics/other requirements • An understanding of the current challenges in the HE sector or similar setting (D) (I) • A pro-active and flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to changing situations and to work calmly and efficiently under pressure (E) (AP/I) • High attention to detail (E) (AP/I) • Ability to use own initiative without supervision (E) (AP/I) • Customer focussed approach to service delivery (E) (AP/I)
