Regional Training Forum (RTF) Recap Minneapolis RTF | MFHA Roundtable | June 16-17, 2025
More than a dozen CHART attendees joined the Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance (MFHA) Roundtable, hosted by Ecolab, for a robust discussion on “Developing Future-Ready Leaders.”
PresidenTalks Booked for Life: Leadership Lessons and Riveting Reads I love books. I’m constantly reading them, referencing them, heck, even smelling the pages. (I may have just lost some of you, but there are those that know what I’m talking about.) At the CHART 108 Conference in Redondo Beach, Keynote David Horsager shared a thought about books that has stuck with me since he said it. While I couldn’t verify the exact stat he shared – that the average adult reads just one book after finishing school – it sparked a deeper look. What I did find was just as sobering: Nearly 50% of Americans haven’t read a single book in the last year. (Source: https://testprepinsight.com/resources/us-book-reading-statistics/) Reading helps us gain perspective, practice empathy, and even reduce stress. It’s a workout for your brain, helping to improve memory and increase our critical thinking skills. I love reading for the same reason others love travel – it’s a journey to another world, another time, or another person’s shoes. I read books on a develop/reward cycle. For every leadership book I read, I try to reward myself with a “fun” one, usually in the form of Science Fiction.
