Parmalat Canada supports water quality work

Parmalat Canada continues to be a keen supporter of the South Nation Conservation Authority’s (SNC) CleanWater Program. The Winchester-based company confirmed another $5000 donation towards the current year’s projects. For the past 18 years, Parmalat has contributed more than $300,000 for the SNC program and helped support more than 100 water quality improvement projects in the South Nation River watershed. Police seek witnesses to accident

Public comment asked for on conservation authorities The provincial government is looking at revisions to the Conservation Authorities Act and wants public feedback to help get the job done. The legislation outlines the responsibilities and pow- ers of regional conservation agencies like the South Nation Conservation Authority.The Ministry of Natural Resources has created a discussion paper, Conserving Our Future: Proposed Priorities for Renewal, available for public review and com- ment at http://apps.mnr.gov.on.ca/public/files/ er/conserving-our-future-proposed-priorities-for- renewal.pdf. Two peoplemay have seen something im- portant about a recent two-vehicle accident in Alfred. Police would like to talk to them about it. Just before 4 p.m., May 10, OPP were cal- led to an accident scene on County Road 17, just west of Lajeunesse Road in Alfred. The report stated that two vehicles were involved and injuries had resulted from the accident. The police incident report states that an eastbound blue-coloured vehicle col- lided with a gold-coloured SUV which was westbound.The collision occurred near the MacEwan gas station. The incident report also states there are two potential witnesses to the accident who may have been in another vehicle heading east and following the blue car. Police want to speak to the driver of that vehicle. Police also want to speak to a black man who was reported talking to the driver of the blue vehicle soon after the collision. This man is considered a possible key witness for the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has other information related to the matter can call either Const. Eddy Saardi or Det- Const. Danyk Lafrance of the Hawkesbury OPP detachment at 613-632-2729 or toll-free at 1-888-310-1122. Police remindmotorists to observe posted speed limits in rural areas as they may not be the same as on the highway.
