LINC – Advocating for Lesbian and Bisexual Women in Ireland, has been an exceptional partner in our quest to bring more LGBTQ+ in the Workplace trainings and events to our employees. LINC is the only community development organisation working exclusively with Lesbian and Bisexual women in the Republic of Ireland and they are committed to informing and impacting upon social inclusion policy and practice and provide peer support services to all in the community. In the last few years, LINC has been running a series of workshops for VMware Ireland employees. We started with our Ireland employees and expanded beyond our borders, each year bringing the insightful conversations and reflections to more and more people across our organization globally. This year, VMware Ireland, and LINC are continuing with these training sessions as well collaborating to celebrate PRIDE month with live music, screenings, and interviews with artists. We are grateful to the fantastic trainers at LINC for their dedication and patience to drive these mportant and sometimes tough conversations, for challenging us and sharing their experience and knowledge, and we know we can count on them to help us further on our journey. “Thank you very much LINC for providing this training. I have learned a lot and feel I have more to learn. This is a life learning, and something that I required more awareness on. “Thank you very much LINC for providing this training. I have learned a lot and feel I have more to learn. This is a life learning, and something that I required more awareness on. I used to be embarrassed or felt bad if I didn’t understand some of the terminology within a conversation but today, I learned it’s ok to ask questions (provided the intention is correct) and it means more to be interested and learn than to selfishly feel like you cannot engage. This was really an eye-opening session – thank you.” Louise Murray, Senior Revenue Analyst, Cork, Ireland I used to be embarrassed or felt bad if I didn’t understand some of the terminology within a conversation but today, I learned it’s ok to ask questions (provided the intention is correct) and it means more to be interested and learn than to selfishly feel like you cannot engage. “I’m delighted VMware is ranked #2 in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion globally – it shows we’re moving in the right direction to make the company a safe space for all. DEI for me is establishing a culture where everyone feels comfortable bringing their true self to work without fear of judgement & repercussions of their bravery and honesty. Happy Pride 2022!.” Ryan Mc Sweeney, Graduate and Co-Lead of VMinclusion Ireland’s Wellness and Disability Pillar, Cork Ireland “VMware being ranked #2 for Diversity shows as a company how committed we are to promoting an inclusive culture where all VMware people can belong and succeed. People are the core of our business and we continue to make future improvements through our DEI efforts such as a commitment to hiring 50/50 women and gender non-binary/men by 2030; and that 50-percent of our managers identify as a woman, gender non-binary, and/or from an underrepresented community. As a company we always look to where we can improve.” Rebecca Hyland, Graduate, Cork Ireland “I’m a proud Ally and member of the VMinclusion Ireland Pride Pillar at VMware Ireland. Supporting and promoting Human Rights are deeply rooted in my DNA. My first thesis was specifically about this very subject throughout history: from the start of humankind, we what qw know of until now. It’s important to talk about LGBT+ rights and to demonstrate the importance of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace and society. I want to do just that, talk and walk the talk, so we can build a better future for all of us.” Aggie Pulfer, Leadership Development Facilitator and Pride Pillar Member, Cork Ireland “For me, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is representation. Being able to see someone ‘like you’ in all areas of our organization shows that we value different perspectives and skillsets, and this goes to VMware’s Core Value of Community.” Porter Herring, Strategy & Policy Manager, DMT DEI Committee Member, US “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion means to me allyship, respect and inclusivity and I love that this sits at the core of our organization’s values!” Olivia Nadasan, Deal Management Team Director, DMT DEI Committee Member, US “Ever since I joined VMware in 2019, I knew I would love to be a part of Pride POD in the company, having heard and read so much about it on our social page! It is a place to be, if you want to spread love and kindness, surround yourself with positive vibes or simply to be heard or share your ideas. Every member of the POD is open to talk about whatever and always treats you with respect and as an equal. This approach is shared throughout the company, as the Pride POD activities and trainings highlight the importance of LGBTQ+ rights, and there is always something new to educate yourself about. I love how I can contribute to helping the community by being part of this POD - it's pure fun & joy!.” Agnieszka Szmyla, Custom Billing Analyst, EMEA Pillar Co- Chair, Cork Ireland In celebration of PRIDE Month, we want to share some thoughts from our PRIDE@VMware and VMinclusion Ireland champions. Get to know VMware! VMware is incredibly grateful to see that its continued dedication to building an inclusive culture has been recognized. We know there is more to do, and we must continue to take meaningful steps to ensure everyone feels they belong and thrive in the workplace. After the challenging last 2 years of pandemic that put additional strains of all our communities, we are truly in awe of the resilience and mutual support we have seen in our people and as such, this award truly belongs to all of VMware. We are #2 on the Forbes’ 2022 Best Employers for Diversity list, moving up nine spots from our #11 ranking in 2021! and this is a fantastic recognition of the work everyone in VMware has been doing, including the PRIDE POD and VMinclusion Ireland. VMware’s top ranking on this list was a result of 60,000 survey participants rating their own organizations on criteria such as age, gender, ethnicity, disability, and sexual orientation equality, as well as general diversity. Respondents belonging to underrepresented groups were also asked to nominate organizations other than their own.
