REMEMBERING SGT. GORDON BEST January is Blue Ribbon Month in the City

of North Myrtle Beach. The North Myrtle Beach Police Foundation, members of the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, and countless volunteers have placed 2,000 blue ribbons throughout the City. All proceeds go towards helping North Myrtle Beach Police Officers in need. These blue ribbons are placed in memory of Sgt. Gordon Best, who courageously gave his life in the line of duty on January 1, 2021. He was just 30 years old, leaving behind his wife, two children, and a legacy that continues to resonate deeply with our community. On January 1, 2025, the City of North Myrtle Beach held a heartfelt Memorial Service celebrating the life of Sgt. Gordon Best. Family, friends, and his brothers and sisters in blue gathered to honor his memory, reflecting on the legacy of service, courage, and love he left behind. Sgt. Best dedicated himself to protecting our community, and his sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the bravery of those who serve. We stand together to ensure his memory remains a guiding light for us all. We will never forget the honorable service and sacrifice of Sgt. Gordon Best. His impact on our City and the lives he touched will endure forever.
