called “moral support” are provided for university students at the Bible League center on Bancroft Way, Berke ley. The secret Of the influence of this movement is the power of the living Christ Himself. “To know Him and to make Him known’’ is the motto of the University of California Bible League, Inc., a student organizàtion on the Berkeley campus of the University. Reorgan ized as a Bible study club in 1935, this, choice group of young Christians has continually and fearlessly given forth a testimony for the Lord among the hundreds of unbelieving profes sors and teachers, to say - nothing of the thousands of fellow students. The University of California, consider ing even its Berkeley campus alone, ranks first among the universities of the nation in enrollment. ;• In this tremendous field, God has raised up a testimony that is impres sive in its numerical strength as well as in its spiritual power. Growing from a miere handful, meeting once weekly, to a large, aggressive group, the Bible League has acquired a valuable piece of property facing the University grounds; with a building adequate for the daily classes and all other activities of the organization. To this center come scores of young peo ple for“Christian fellowship and Bible study, and from it go groups to hold deputation meetings, to call on other students, to give testimonies on the radio, and to witness individually to ¡men and women who are without Christ. Considering the many claims upon thè time of busy university stu dents, the attendance at nooday classes and prayer meetings is re markable. But these young people, surrounded by thousands of unsaved fellow students, do not forget that there remains yét much ground to be claimed for their Saviour and Lord. Each year hundreds of copies of the Gospel of John or*suitable tracts and many Testaments have been mailed out by the Bible League to registered students. - Yes, this is in reality an evangelistic, center at a great upiver- ' sity. The University of. California Medi cai Center in San Francisco, whe*e doctors,- dentists,’ pharmacists, and nurses complete the courses required for their degrees, has a strong group of; Christian men and women who comprise a branch Bible League, meeting for Bible study once a week and seeking to contact their fellow students for the Lord. How the Lord Has Worked Since 1935 Vernon Morgan (Biola ’13) has been the sponsor and teacher

the. Lord so miraculously gave to the League has become 1 an attractive “rallying and radiating center” to which many young people come for spiritual strength and encouragement after their- busy hours spent at the University lecture halls and campus where they- hear much that is antago nistic to Christianity. 1 The Students Speak Let us call a few of the ..young peo ple to the witness stand to speak for themselves. These quotations, like the one which opened the article, are taken from testimonies given by Bible League members over radio station KROW, in Oakland, over which Mr. Morgan has broadcast the Word six times a week for seven years. A Senior speaks:. “Upon first coming to the University I. went from one young people’s group to another until a friend one day invited me to Bible League, Where I have found the love of Christ really manifested. Trying to tell you all that Bible League has done for me would take time, but I believe the Lord led me to come to the University and that He led me definitely t o , Bible League. It has afforded spiritual food, through Mr. Morgan and.other s p e a k e r s , and Christian fellowship as well.” Now teaching at the University, a young man who came to the Bible League in his freshman year six years ago testifies: “ I praise God daily that there is an organization on the cam pus of the University .of California, my alma mater, that: is showing the stu dents the Truth and strengthening the faith of others to stand the assaults of science so-called. My salvation came to mean more to me as I listened to Mr. Morgan’s studies in the Word and shared my experiences with fellow' Students. It was at the Bible League that the true meaning of ‘Lord of all or not at all’ was brought out to me. So many young people of today are trying to serve : Gofl and the world. Once Christ is en-

Of the University of California Bible League. It.was through his radio min istry that most of the funds came that were heeded to rent a home for^the League during the first five years of the work. But on July 15, 1940, the house on Piedmont Way was no longer avail able for the work, and it became nec essary to place in storage all Bible League furniture and equipment. Stu dents, the Board of Trustees, and other friends of the work were pray-, ing earnestly in special groups and individually that God would provide a new home for the Bible League. Within a month, the League was in stalled in its far more desirable pres ent “home”—a large colonial-style house fronting directly on the campus and facing the University’s magnifi cent women's gymnasium. The L ague’s members often ex press their gratitude to God for this convenient gathering place with its spacious rooms that open off the large central hall from which the wide colonial staircase a s c e n d s . Here prayer meetings or Bible classes are held each noon, and here the Tuesday evening Bible classes, the “sings,” and parties take place. The downstairs assembly rooms have a seating ca pacity of at least 275, and the home has a large play room with a fire-. place. Gifts from Mr. Morgan’s radio lis teners, Bible League alumni, and from others made possible the down pay ment on the present home. Continued miracles at the Lord’s hand áre mak ing possible the heavy monthly-^pay- ments, and rental of rooms to Chris tian students nearly cares for the running expenses of the home. Although it was necessary for the group to incorporate in order to hold property, the organizational structure of the League has always been kept in the background. Students are never urged to join the League, but all are made welcome to the Bible classes and prayer meetings. This home that
