WHAT MAKES DRI TECH EXCEPTIONAL

PASSION FOR PEOPLE COMES FIRST

appy New Year! Congratulations on making it through

two hours, but I knew in the first two minutes that Dri Tech was where I wanted to be.

2020 — you’ve earned the collective breath of

After working for a company for over a decade, leaving is hard, but when you can tell how great the company you’re leaping into is, it’s a lot easier. And that’s exactly what Dri Tech is like for every new member who joins our team. This is a place where ideas are heard, considered, and often implemented. This is a place where everyone’s role is valued. Blaine is a business owner who certainly is passionate about roofing, but what makes his roofing business great is that he’s even more passionate about the team driving his business. Jim here now — I’ve known Blaine for over 10 years. We met in a CEO peer group where members helped each other propel their businesses forward. I’ve worked as a consultant for many years, but rarely have I seen a business that functions as incredibly as Dri Tech does. I’ve worked with companies that are much bigger and have been around for longer than Dri Tech that still don’t have the same impressive features and collaborations that Dri Tech does. And that’s thanks to great leadership and great team members. Blaine has always led his business with a focus on family-like culture. It’s what helps him make people the best they can be without micromanaging them to get there. He gives them the tools and inspiration they need to excel and lets them bring their own value to their role and the business. As someone who has seen a lot of different

fresh air we all took when the clock struck midnight on Dec. 31. In the spirit of the new year, we’re doing this newsletter article a little differently this month. My name is Kristina, and I’m a service coordinator here at Dri Tech. I wanted to step in for Blaine this month to tell you a little bit about what working here is like. Also joining me is Jim, a consultant for Dri Tech specializing in business strategies and communication. We wanted to give some insight into what it’s like to work both for and with Dri Tech and what that means for you, our customers. Before I came to Dri Tech, I worked for an engineering firm for 14 years. I loved the various roles I got to play, but when the company was bought out and management changed, things went downhill. After being an integral part of the business, I quickly lost my voice. My ideas were no longer heard, and my opinion no longer mattered. It was heartbreaking to experience. That’s when Jim, whom I had known for several years, reached out to let me know about an opportunity at a new company. It was a commercial roofing business called Dri Tech. I was admittedly a little unsure. I didn’t know the first thing about commercial roofing, but I took a chance and interviewed with Blaine. We ended up talking for over

business and leadership styles, it’s inspiring to find a business that operates this way. It doesn’t happen as often as it should. But we’re not here to brag about the place we work or the people we work with. We say these things to show you, our customers, exactly what you get when you work with Dri Tech. We firmly believe that happy employees make happy customers because our track record is solid proof of that. When work ethic inside the office is great, you can bet it’s going to be great out on every job we do, too. So this year, when you’re looking for someone to help you with your roofing needs, you can rely on Dri Tech to give you great service. But more than that, you can rely on working with great people who genuinely care about your needs. It’s the way we’ve done business for 53 years and the way we’ll keep doing it for every year to come.

OUT WITH THE NEW, IN WITH THE OLD!

4 OLD-SCHOOL HOBBIES MAKING A MAJOR COMEBACK

tradition has been kept alive. When many people were stuck at home last year, they rediscovered their card collections and remembered how much fun they were. As a result, card sales went through the roof, and online card communities lit up with activity from all over the world. Restoring Cars Car restoration is a hobby that lets you get your hands dirty, and it’s one that you can do with your kids or grandkids. It can be not only educational for them but also fun! Together, you can track down parts, talk to folks who are also interested in restoration, and learn about the history of your car. Though car restoration can be a bit costly and time consuming, it’s certainly a journey worth taking. Embroidering Embroidery has taken off because it’s both inexpensive and fairly easy to get into. Plus, many people have fallen in love with its meditative quality. One of the great things about embroidery is that you can use it to make amazing personalized gifts, like pillows, wall hangings, and kitchen towels!

January is National Hobby Month — and for good reason! As people set goals for 2021, they’re also thinking about trying new hobbies. But with so many out there, picking just one can be a hobby in itself. Thanks in part to COVID-19, many people have rediscovered old- school hobbies. Some of these have been around for decades or even longer, and others have established communities that can rely on one another for support, sharing information, and more. Here are four great examples. Making Bread Over the last year, interest in this ancient hobby has skyrocketed. Homemade bread is tastier and more nutritious than store-bought, and it’s so satisfying to watch it come together. Not to mention it’s a great skill to have! With so many types of bread to try, you’re not going to run out of ideas any time soon. Collecting Cards No matter what people were into during the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, there was a trading card game for it. And even going into 2021, that

The first few weeks of a new year are great for setting goals. It’s a chance to take stock of where you are, look to where you want to be, and figure out the steps for getting there. Renewing vigor for the things you want to achieve in your life is never a bad idea. Reach for Your Goals VIC’S CORNER

So, then, why limit yourself to only doing so at the beginning of the year?

Goal-setting is an essential part of life, not just business. It’s why Dri Tech offers its team members personal development seminars and workshops throughout the year. We believe in the power of planning for success consistently because we believe it inspires us to be better at what we do. And when we’re better at what we do, we can be better for you, too.

Unless you were Amazon or Apple, 2020 was a tough year for businesses. Some were hit harder than others, but many are still much worse for the wear as we head into the new year. But the key to survival is thinking outside the box and finding a way to persevere. Take it from an event that happened in our very own Las Vegas backyard. If you haven’t seen the show “Shark Tank,” we highly recommend it, especially if you’re a business owner. The basic gist is that the show gets five or six self-made millionaires and billionaires together in a room to hear pitches from entrepreneurs who are trying to make their business dreams come true. They ask the “sharks” for help by way of money and expertise. For 11 seasons, “Shark Tank” has been forging deals and inspiring thousands of entrepreneurs across the world to work hard every day. It’s a pretty incredible show. When it came to filming the 2020 season, there were concerns about getting people together in close quarters to shoot episodes given COVID-19 risks. But when hope and inspiration are all many have to hold onto these days, the opportunities that “Shark Tank” provides to participants and viewers alike just can’t be ignored. So, the showrunners found a way to make it work. “Shark Tank” teamed up with the Venetian Hotel and Resort to build a production bubble right inside the hotel where the 2020 season could be safely filmed. It was built to house the entire crew and all the sharks and entrepreneurs for two months of filming. The production crew alone took up over a third of the Palazzo tower. They built a brand-new studio set with safe social distancing measures everywhere, and to date, there have been no reports of any outbreaks. The season was a complete success. Many other companies are now reaching out to the Venetian to create the same bubble experience. It truly was an incredible feat. But the most important lesson to take away from this out-of-the-box team up is this: When the desire to push forward is great enough, there’s always a way to make things happen. That’s a valuable lesson for any business owner to remember. HOW THE VENETIAN HOTEL SHOWS THE POWER OF PERSEVERANCE

As big Golden Knights fans, we’re excited to have an affiliate team to cheer for this year: the Henderson Silver Knights! If you haven’t heard, the city of Henderson has officially been given their own American Hockey League Team called the Silver Knights, to be owned and operated by the same franchise as the VGK. The team’s arrival on the scene was announced back in May 2020, and they’re named after Nevada’s nickname, “The Silver State.” They also adopted the slogan “Home Means Henderson,” which is inspired by our Nevada state song, “Home Means Nevada.” They’ll be replacing the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, and

construction on their new arena in Henderson is already underway (but won’t be ready until 2022). In the meantime, they’ll be playing at Orleans Arena, and we eagerly welcome them to the pro hockey scene in Las Vegas as they prepare for their debut season this year!

Give Yourself the Boost of Getting Outside

Hunkering down and waiting for the dark and chilly winter season to pass sounds pretty nice. But the reality is, if we deprive ourselves of time outside, we do ourselves a big disservice both mentally and physically. Staying indoors all day affects your energy and mood, which makes it hard to get anything done, so here are four easy tips to make it easier to get a little fresh air. 1. Make it a priority. Getting outside means making the conscious effort to do so. If you want to reap its benefits, you have to decide to make it a priority in your day-to-day schedule. If you make the act important to you, you have more motivation to actually do it. 2. Use mornings effectively. Waking up and getting the day started can be hard. But studies have shown that natural light helps decrease your melatonin production, which means you feel ready to face the day sooner. So, set yourself a second alarm to head outside and take a quick walk around the block just after waking. Don’t even wash your face or grab coffee. Just get out there. LET THAT FRESH AIR FUEL YOU 4 TIPS TO MAKE GETTING OUTSIDE EASIER

3. Take your work outside. If you’re working from home, take some work outdoors. Phone and virtual meetings are a great outdoor option, especially if you’ll just be an active listener and aren’t required to do any work simultaneously. Attach a note to your meeting reminders to get yourself set up outside five minutes before you start. 4. Create a schedule. It might feel strange to set reminders throughout the day to step outside, but you easily get wrapped up in activities and overlook breaks, and these reminders are exactly what you need. Start with 10-minute blocks three times a day. If you stick to them, soon you won’t need a schedule to get outside anymore. Winter weather may be cold, but even when you’re bundled up under a jacket and scarf, just 5–10 minutes outside can do wonders for your mood and energy for hours.
