dustries and regional areas. The month-over-month order rates, monthly production volumes, and monthly shipping volumes have all improved. We are having 2025 business reviews with some strategic customers, and they are ask- ing about our capacity availability for the next two to three years. This is a sure sign that they are seeing and planning for growth. “Looking forward, I have several expectations for 2025. I look for President-elect Trump to help steer peace agree- ments in both the Middle East and Europe which will pro- vide stability in those regions. The 2017 tax reductions will be extended or made permanent which will allow contin- ued investment in business and more money in our pock- ets. I think inflation will trend downwards allowing some price relief for all Americans. Investments and policies will promote manufacturing in the US along with improved or more balanced trade with our global customers. “As for the corrugated industry, I anticipate industry growth of 5-plus percent with independents outpacing the integrated producers. I think there will be significant ra- tionalization as the integrated producers close plants and morph their current footprints. Meanwhile, I look for a re- surgence of manufacturing and manufacturing job growth in 2025 along with two price increases. “My 2025 outlook is very positive and growth oriented. The political landscape and industry consolidations should provide opportunities for the independent corrugated converters that are positioned with modern converting ca- pacity and capabilities.” ISM: Economy Expands With Manufacturing PMI At 49.3 Percent Economic activity in the manufacturing sector contracted in December for the ninth consecutive month and the 25th time in the last 26 months, say the nation’s supply execu- tives in the latest Manufacturing ISM Report On Business. The report was issued by Timothy R. Fiore, CPSM, C.P.M., Chair of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Manufacturing Business Survey Committee: “The Manufacturing PMI registered 49.3 percent in December, 0.9 percentage point higher compared to the 48.4 percent recorded in November.
