ELEMENT 8.1 - INTRODUCTION TO MOTION -COMPENSATED GANG WAYS
Learning objective:
51)
The participants can Describe the purpose and structure of
common motion-compensated
gangways, including typical movements and dynamic/static components
(Knowledge, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Facilitate a short discussion on the purpose of Walk -to-Work (W2W) systems as a method of offshore transfer, highlighting why they are used and how they improve safety.
Present images or short video clips showing different types of motion
-compensated gangways,
guiding participants to observe structural components and typical movements.
Lead a Lead a group activity where participants identify dynamic and static parts of the gangway and discuss how they function during transfer.
The participants shall:
Engage actively in the discussion and share prior experiences or expectations of W2W operations.
Practice identifying key gangway components from visual examples and explain their function in the transfer process.
Contribute observations on what they might experience during approach, crossing, and retreat when using a motion -compensated system.
ELEMENT 8.2 - SIGNALS AND ALARMS
