PROGRAM: PLANNING & ZONING

MISSION The Planning and Zoning Division manages the City's land use development process through the administration of the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, and Development Ordinance. The Planning and Zoning Division guides future development in the community through the creation and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and other development plans. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES • The Planning and Zoning Division reviews plats for compliance with the City's Subdivision Ordinance and the Zoning Ordinance, as well as coordinates these reviews with other city departments, prior to presenting the proposed plats to the Planning and Zoning Commission and/or City Council for approval. • The Planning and Zoning Division facilitates the interdepartmental review of private development proposals to ensure compliance with the City's ordinances, planning documents, federal/state/local laws and regulations, etc. The Planning and Zoning Division guides future development in the community. • It is the Planning Division’s responsibility to review Site Plans for compliance in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance before issuing a permit. It is a major goal of the Planning Department to provide excellent customer service and ensure each customer receives timely service and accurate information. • Planning and Zoning provides timely review of Landscape Plans, in connection with Building Permits submitted by our customers. • The Division ensures Certificate of Occupancy submittals comply with the Zoning Ordinance. • Planning and Zoning reviews Site Plans, Landscape Plans and Elevations in connection with Planned Developments for compliance with the Zoning Ordinance.
