Department of Flight The Department of Flight (DoF) is an established force in uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS). Since its beginning in 2014, the department has specialized in small uncrewed aircraft systems (sUAS), growing its inventory to over 100 aircraft that span all major manufacturers and types. These aircraft are equipped with cutting-edge sensors and software, such as infrared, multi-spectral and hyper-spectral cameras, LIDAR and chemical identification sensors. Through strategic partnerships with leading manufacturers, the DoF provides its students with access to the latest technologies and industry support, ensuring a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience. The DoF strongly emphasizes UAS flight safety, operating with a commitment to adhering to local and national regulations. The department is known for its rigorous qualification programs and a strong safety culture. Notably, the DoF was the first organization designated as an Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Trusted Operator Program™ (TOP) training provider and the first to achieve TOP Level-3 Instructor qualification. Staffed by FAA-licensed crewed pilots with military flight backgrounds, the DoF’s faculty bring extensive global experience to their teaching. They have provided training in various locations, including Singapore, Germany, the U.K., the Bahamas, India, Borneo, Brazil and the U.S. The department offers both classroom and online courses, extending its reach to a global demographic. The department’s mission is to prepare the next generation of aviation professionals by providing them with the knowledge, skills, abilities and judgment needed to succeed in the global aviation community. To accomplish this, we offer advanced flight systems and training, promote a strong safety culture and develop critical aeronautical decision-making skills through scenario-based training. Additionally, the department collaborates with industry leaders worldwide to ensure that our programs align with current industry standards and future trends.
