St. John Properties has broken ground on its fourth Utah development, and its first construction project north of Salt Lake City in Weber County, Utah. The new 12th Street Exchange is located in Marriott- Slaterville just off I-15 near Ogden. Once completed, the 19-acre business commu- nity will offer 170,000 square feet of com- mercial flex/R&D and retail space. “It’s exciting to see St John Properties expand into Northern Utah,” stated Vale Hale, former head of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “The flex space they are building just off the freeway on 12th Street is going to be a boon to the area. This expansion is yet another testament to Utah’s nation leading business environment.” Marriott-Slaterville is among a number of growing communities within the northern reach of the greater Salt Lake area. Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has signed a lease with St. John Properties, Inc. for 11,760 square feet of space at Leesburg Tech Park, a four-building business community situated at the intersection of Sycolin Road and Miller Drive in Leesburg, Virginia. The lease at 900 Sycolin Road more than doubles the presence of Loudoun County Public Schools within the 17-acre flex/research and development project to approximately 20,000 square feet of space. Loudoun County Public Schools intends to occupy the new space at 900 Sycolin Road with approximately 90 employees by the end of this year. According to Don Treanor, Executive Director, Facilities for the school system, the new requirement will be used to house the Department of Digital Information which provides computer equipment and technology support to both teachers and students. “We originally had plans to renovate the Staff Training Center, an old school site in Ashburn, for our Department of Digital Information but the cost was prohibitive and this lease was a more cost-efficient alternative,” explained Treanor. “The school system owns 1002 Sycolin Road, which is adjacent to Leesburg Tech Park, so adding a third space within walking distance makes sense logistically and simplifies communication and overall synergies. “We have enjoyed a close working relationship with Loudoun County and LCPS for decades and are grateful for their continued trust in our firm and our buildings,” stated Matt Holbrook, Regional Partner, Virginia and Central Maryland for St. John Properties.
