Welcome from the Parent and Family Association We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Embry-Riddle family! Join the Daytona Beach Parent and Family Association — no dues or commitments, just an easy way to stay informed. Sign up to receive the Parent and Family Experience Newsletter , which keeps you updated on important announcements and campus events. There’s no cost, and you’ll be able to manage your Parent and Family Portal to access resources, view the campus calendar, follow the parent newsfeed, share updates with friends and family, personalize your newsletter and more! The Parent Advisory Council (PAC), composed of volunteer family members, collaborates with campus leadership to share ideas and feedback. If you’re interested in getting involved, you can also consider becoming a Parent Ambassador, helping at regional events and mentoring prospective parents and students.

DINING SERVICES

Make sure your Eagle is fueled up and well-fed! Students living on campus are required to have a minimum meal plan of 14 meals per week, but a variety of plans are also available. Your student will find Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Qdoba, Boundless All-You-Care-To-Eat buffet and more on campus.

RESIDENCE LIFE

Living on the Daytona Beach Campus All new students are required to live on campus for the first two academic years, and on-campus housing is guaranteed to those required to live on campus. For students not required to live on campus, a variety of off-campus options are available, with some including shuttle service to campus. Housing and Residence Life staff strive to support a positive living and learning environment through programs and events in the residence halls. Living on campus keeps your Eagle involved with the university and connected to new friends. Learn more about requirements, floor plans, amenities and more on the Housing and Residence Life website. Campus housing is highly sought after, so ensure your Eagle submits their housing contract by the annual deadline.

FINANCES

Preparing Your Finances Our team of financial aid counselors assists students and families in managing resources to pay for college. Remember — the FAFSA must be filed each year using Embry-Riddle’s code 001479 , and students are encouraged to continually seek external scholarships that can help fund education. Financial aid award offers and outstanding charges can be viewed in ERNIE. In order to make payments to your Eagle’s account and to view educational records, you must be granted access. Visit the Student Financial Services page to view instructions and have your student complete these important processes.

Did you know you can add money to your student’s EagleCard? EagleCard can be used to make purchases at the bookstore, vending and copy machines, all dining locations on campus and select off-campus restaurants and merchants.

CAREER SERVICES

The Path to Success Embry-Riddle’s Center for Career and Professional Development offers tools like resume writing, interview prep and employer events to help students land jobs. Industry/Career Expos are a key opportunity for students to connect with potential employers and investigate avenues for professional growth. We leverage our strong industry reputation to connect students with top employers.

Students should start planning as early as freshman year: s Freshman Year

Information gathering is essential. Encourage your Eagle to visit the Center for Career and Professional Development, meet their program manager, attend company info sessions and participate in the semi- annual Industry/Career Expo. s Sophomore Year Building a solid resume is key. Volunteering, holding leadership roles and campus jobs can showcase important skills like teamwork, leadership and professionalism. s Junior Year Co-op programs and internships provide hands- on experience, and in some cases, college credit. Visiting the Center for Career and Professional Development to explore these opportunities is a great next step. s Senior Year By this stage, your Eagle should be actively pursuing their career goals or advanced studies. Embry-Riddle offers resume reviews, mock interviews and negotiation advice to help finalize the job search.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT

Helping Your Eagle Thrive

Embry-Riddle is committed to your Eagle’s academic success. Academic advisors work with students to develop long-term academic plans, assist with course registration and provide support if they encounter difficulties. The Academic Advancement Center offers free tutoring, with additional resources available for flight students, veterans, international students and first-generation students. Courses like University 101 ease students through their transition into college life and beyond. Research opportunities are also available through the Office of Undergraduate Research, which connects undergraduate students with faculty-mentored projects.

LIBRARY AND STUDENT UNION

A Social and Study Hub The Jack R. Hunt Library provides access to online electronic journals, ebooks, newsletters, technical reports, proceedings, documents, standards and streaming videos supporting the Embry‑Riddle curriculum. Students have access to computer stations, group study rooms and on-demand webinars covering topics in research support and tools, writing, presenting and publishing. As the hub of activity on campus, the Mori Hosseini Student Union is home to various eateries with plenty of space to socialize, study, get involved or just hang out. The gaming lounge is equipped with the latest consoles and the rooftop terrace offers an amazing view of the runway.

Student Competitions Embry-Riddle students engage in competitions in aviation, engineering, robotics and more, gaining practical skills that employers highly value, enhancing their career prospects.

Popular events include:

s Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Competition Students use state-of-the-art drone technology, create innovative solutions for real-world challenges and work alongside industry specialists. s Baja Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Students from around the world design and build off-road cars to race against one another. s AIAA Design/Build/Fly A global competition to design, build and test an uncrewed aerial vehicle conducting a set of complex missions. s NASA’s Robotic Mining Competition Students develop robotic systems for space exploration, competing to solve critical challenges in mining and sustainability. s National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) SAFECON Supports flight education and safety.

JOIN THE CLUB

Campus Life Encourage your Eagle to get involved! From student organizations to athletics and leadership opportunities, there are plenty of ways to connect on campus. Clubs cover a wide range of interests, including academic, social, cultural and recreational activities. Embry-Riddle offers a vibrant Greek Life community, and the Student Government Association (SGA) provides leadership opportunities. Students can also gain hands-on experience by joining campus media teams like the Avion newspaper or WIKD radio station.

Intramural and Recreational Sports The Department of Intramural and Recreational Sports oversees recreational facilities like the pool and fitness center and sponsors intramural and club sports, including racquetball, table tennis, ice hockey and dodgeball. At the ICI Center, students can check out a variety of sports equipment, including soccer balls, golf clubs, wallyball and tennis racquets. Our fitness center offers a wide range of equipment, classes and events to support total well-being, plus an outdoor pool for relaxation, sports, laps and even innovative student research projects. For students who seek outdoor activities of a different nature, check out the various adventure trips organized by the fitness center staff. Plus, camping equipment is available for adventures in the local springs and parks.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Campus Safety First At Embry-Riddle, safety is our top priority, whether on the flight line or on campus. The Campus Safety and Security Department offers several services to help students protect themselves and their property. Services include safety escorts, motorist assistance and the popular “Lease-a-Lock” program that rents high-security bicycle and motorcycle locks to students. The campus is patrolled 24/7, year-round.

Be sure your Eagle signs up for Eagle Alerts — a notification system that keeps the community informed when there are added risks so that preventative action can be taken. The Campus Safety and Security Department also oversees emergency management in case of storms or other threats. The Emergency Operations Team (EOT) manages and communicates during emergencies, providing timely updates to students.

ERNIE

Embry-Riddle’s Network for Information Exchange (ERNIE) is the student portal for managing academic and financial tasks, including course registration, financial aid and payments. It also provides access to key resources like the EagleCard which functions as a student ID, library card and debit card. ERNIE is used to manage FERPA, auxiliary access that must be granted by the student to designated individuals to allow access to student records. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AND SCHOLAR SERVICES

Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach Campus is home to international students from more than 110 nations. For international students, the International Student and Scholar Services Office offers assistance with traveling to campus, including questions about immigration, required documents, visas, the I-20 process and more. The department also hosts a mandatory new student campus orientation before classes begin, special events for international students and a variety of clubs and organizations serve this audience as well.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Balancing academics, activities and well-being can be challenging for students, but Embry-Riddle provides a variety of health and wellness services to support them. Health insurance is required for all students, and your Eagle will be automatically enrolled unless you have comparable coverage and waive out during the waiver period each year. Our team of registered nurses, physicians and physician assistants are available for walk-ins or appointments. Counseling Services and Disability Support Services are available to support students’ mental and emotional health, as well as assist those with special needs, such as service animals, housing accommodations or academic support. The Fitness and Wellness Center offers yoga and group fitness classes, dietary clinics, and relaxing activities like dive-in movie night, swimming lessons, pool parties and more.

Visiting your Eagle offers you the opportunity to enjoy the sun and sand of one of the world’s most famous beaches! Whether you’re visiting for Family Weekend or graduation, you’ll find lots of fun activities to enjoy during your stay. Here are some tips to make the most of your stay: s Campus Map and Directions: Access the campus map and directions to find your way to and around campus. daytonabeach.erau.edu/campus-map s Lodging: Many local hotels offer Embry-Riddle discounts. Whether you want to stay right on the beach, or close to campus, you’ll find a list of options here: erau.edu/daytona-beach-hotels . s Off-Campus Housing: For students who are not required to live on campus, the Housing and Residence Life Office partners with an online service to advertise local rentals. daytonabeach.erau.edu/off-campus-housing s Transportation: Daytona Beach International Airport is adjacent to the Embry‑Riddle Campus and serves the area. Orlando International Airport and Orlando Sanford International Airport are approximately an hour’s drive from Daytona Beach.
