City of Pearland voters gave a green light to capital improvement during the May 2023 General and Special Election, where all four bond propositions were approved by the community.
Pearland Voters Approve Capital Improvement Initiatives, All Bond Propositions in May 2023 Election City of Pearland bond propositions will facilitate important improvements across the City, focusing on infrastructure, parks and recreation facilities, and public safety.
Proposition A, which had to do with drainage improve- ments within the City, received 3,290 votes in favor (65.15%) and 1,760 votes against (34.85%). The approved budget of $105,500,000 will be allocated to various projects, including the installation of underground stormwater conveyance sys- tems, the replacement of roadside ditches and the regrading of roadside ditches. Specific areas to benefit from these im - provements include the Veterans Drainage Improvements, the Southwest Quadrant of Old Town, Shady Crest and Creek View Subdivision Drainage, and more.
Proposition B, focusing on street, bridge and sidewalk im- provements, received 3,234 votes in favor (64.20%) and 1,803 votes against (35.80%). The approved budget of $26,146,000 will be utilized for projects such as the widening of Hughes Road and the replacement of concrete sidewalks, with the aim of enhancing connectivity and safety for pedestrians and motorists. Proposition C, dedicated to parks and recreation purpos- es, obtained 2,580 votes in favor (51.33%) and 2,446 votes against (48.67%). The allocated budget of $33,705,000 will
