BEYOND SPEEDING

LAUGH IT OFF

THE DANGERS OF AGGRESSIVE DRIVING IN GEORGIA

In Georgia, there’s a common misconception that road rage and aggressive driving are interchangeable terms. However, these charges entail distinct differences. Studies show that aggressive drivers instill more anxiety in others on the road than impaired drivers. Many are unaware that aggressive driving encompasses various risky behaviors, including excessive speeding, running red lights, tailgating, and unsafe lane changes. Understanding crucial details and state laws can make a significant difference. INSIGHTS ON AGGRESSIVE DRIVING STATISTICS Research from the American Automobile Association’s Foundation for Traffic Safety (AAA) reveals that 56% of fatal motor vehicle collisions stem from aggressive driving. Alarmingly, in 2023, 92% of people witnessed an act of aggressive driving. When faced with an aggressive driver, avoiding engagement is best. Interacting with such drivers is rarely a wise choice. This includes disregarding any offensive gestures they make. If possible, note the driver’s license plate and promptly report it, along with relevant details, to emergency services. PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR AVOIDING AGGRESSIVE DRIVING ACCIDENTS To steer clear of aggressive driving incidents, these proactive steps can be taken:
